Dr. Michael A. Burke, MD, DLFAPA, is a board-certified psychiatrist in General Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine, and the distinguished CEO and founder of Emergence Treatment & Research in Atlanta. A graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and Duke’s psychiatry residency, he’s built an illustrious 32‑year career rooted in academic medicine—known for his prolific research and dedication to teaching community psychiatry and the psychiatric care of medically ill patients. Serving as psychiatrist for Emory’s Winship Cancer Center, a founding member of the South Florida Prostate Cancer Clinic, and consultant at Emory and Grady Hospitals, he’s brought deep expertise in managing complex psychiatric symptoms intertwined with physical illnesses. Dr. Burke has led programs for treatment-resistant psychiatric illnesses, spearheaded national initiatives for homeless populations, and advanced PTSD care for both veterans and civilians.
