Born in Statesboro, Georgia, and raised in Augusta, Terry Childers has dedicated his life to leadership, service, and helping individuals and families find lasting recovery.
Terry’s Role at Southern Pines Recovery
As Director of Community Relations, Terry builds and strengthens the relationships that connect people to care at Southern Pines Recovery. He works closely with referral sources, community partners, and local organizations across Augusta to raise awareness of SPR’s programs, and he assists clients and families directly through the intake process, ensuring they know where to turn when they need help.
Recovery Journey
For more than two decades, Terry has been committed to recovery and helping others overcome addiction. Having maintained over 20 years of sobriety himself, he understands firsthand the challenges and hope that come with the recovery journey.
Today, Terry brings decades of professional experience, personal recovery, and a genuine passion for helping others to every individual and family he serves. He believes healing is possible for everyone and is committed to providing compassionate guidance, support, and hope.
Professional Background
Terry spent 15 years in the commercial flooring industry with Beaulieu of America and Bonitz Flooring Group, serving as a Territory Manager and Account Executive.
He then spent 12 years with Bradford Health Services, one of the Southeast’s leading substance use disorder treatment providers, serving in roles including Community Representative, Administrator, and Territory Manager. Most recently, he served as a Clinical Liaison at The Bluff Recovery Center in Augusta, Georgia, from 2021 to 2025.
Baseball Career & Education
Terry graduated from Westside High School before earning a baseball scholarship to the University of Georgia. During his time at UGA, he was a member of the 1990 National Championship baseball team, served as team captain in 1992, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education (Educational Psychology). He went on to play professional baseball in the New York Mets organization from 1992 to 1994.
Outside of Southern Pines Recovery
Outside of work, Terry enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, golfing, and coaching youth baseball. He was recognized for his commitment to the recovery community with the Substance Abuse Advocate of the Year Award from the Augusta Coalition for Addiction Recovery Awareness in 2019, and he remains active in the recovery community through regular participation in 12-step meetings.
